ARENAL VOLCANO TOURS
Arenal
Volcano was considered the most active Volcano in
Costa Rica and in the top ten most active in the
world until October 2010 when it stopped its regular
eruptions. At 5,358 ft. Arenal Volcano is still a
spectacular view with its perfect conical shape and
surrounding lush foliage. The volcano has been
considered active since July 29th, 1968 when it
suddenly and violently erupted which lasted several
days. The result of the eruption buried the towns of
Tabacón, Pueblo Nuevo and San Luís and also affected
more than 232 square kilometers of land. In 1996 the
volcano started to produce regular lava flows which
lasted until 2010, these constant lava flows were
able to be seen nightly has it lit up the top of the
mountain and were a main draw for the area.
Arenal
is approximately a 3 hour drive from Vista Bahia and
the tour is about 12 hours. Guests can have
transportation and tours scheduled for them at the
front desk.
